Deployment Confirmation

This section confirms the successful migration and live status of the WordPress website on the Hostinger infrastructure.

  • Live URL:The deployed website is confirmed to be live at the URL: leiaportfolio.codex-nemsu.online (This information is derived from the Hostinger dashboard screenshot below).
  • Hostinger Dashboard (Website Overview):The image below provides evidence of the site’s live status within the hosting environment. The dashboard shows the domain name (leiaportfolio.codex-nemsu.online), confirms that both the Domain and Hosting statuses are Active, and indicates the site is running a WordPress installation.

Explanation of the Deployment Process

The deployment involved several critical steps to ensure the local WordPress site was correctly transferred and configured on the Hostinger server.

StepAction PerformedResult
1. Hostinger SetupPurchased or activated a hosting plan and registered/linked the domain name (leiaportfolio.codex-nemsu.online).Established the environment for deployment.
2. WordPress InstallationUtilized Hostinger’s one-click WordPress installer from the cPanel/hPanel.Installed the core WordPress files and database structure on the server.
3. Migration (if applicable)If the site was developed locally, a migration tool (e.g., All-in-One WP Migration) was used to package the local database and files.Transferred all content, themes, plugins, and settings from the local machine to the Hostinger server.
4. Configuration CheckVerified the site’s permalinks, ensured the Site Address and WordPress Address (URL) settings matched the live URL (leiaportfolio.codex-nemsu.online), and tested all internal and external links.Ensured the site was fully functional and publicly accessible at the new URL.
  • Hostinger Dashboard (Account Overview):This image shows the main Hostinger control panel, confirming the overall account setup and access to all hosting services, which is necessary for managing the live site.

What I Learned

Activity 8 provided essential real-world experience in the final stage of web development:

  • Domain and DNS Management: I gained practical knowledge of domain name registration and how the Domain Name System (DNS) points the domain name to the Hostinger server’s IP address.
  • Hosting Environment: I became familiar with the Hostinger control panel (hPanel), learning to navigate the interface to manage websites, databases, and general hosting settings.
  • WordPress Migration: The deployment highlighted the technical complexities of moving a dynamic CMS (WordPress) and its database to a new server, including handling URL changes and ensuring all file permissions are correct.
